Our Activated Alumina is comprised of a synthetically-produced aluminium oxide in a smooth spherical form, free of dust, with high-crush strength and high water adsorption capacity. It is highly porous and an excellent desiccant for liquids and gases. Activated Alumina works as a desiccant through adsorption, so as air passes through the desiccant beads, the water in the air sticks to it and becomes trapped, enabling the air that passes through the activated alumina filter to become dried out.
Activated alumina (desiccant grade) is a highly porous material that is commonly used as a desiccant, which is a substance that is used to remove moisture from the air. Activated alumina desiccant is made from aluminum oxide, which is heated to high temperatures to create a highly porous structure with a large surface area.
Activated alumina desiccant is often used in industrial applications where moisture control is important, such as in the drying of gases and liquids. The desiccant works by adsorbing moisture from the air, effectively reducing the humidity and preventing the formation of condensation.
Some of the specific applications for activated alumina desiccant include:
Overall, activated alumina desiccant is a highly effective material for controlling moisture in a wide range of industrial applications, helping to improve efficiency and prevent damage to equipment.

Activated Alumina is extremely effective for drying gases and is very stable physically and chemically, even in high temperatures and corrosive environments. It is most frequently used for compressed air dryers, because of its cost effectiveness in relation to other types of desiccant. With its high surface area, high moisture adsorption capacity and high-crush strength, our SKAA-205 and SKAA-208 desiccant beads can easily withstand the saturated conditions that are found within an air compressor. Besides compressed air drying, our desiccant grade activated alumina are used in PSA (Pressure Swing Adsorption) and VPSA (Vacuum Pressure Swing Adsorption) dryers and natural gas drying.
